Hi! I recently graduated with my Associates degree in nursing. I was looking into William Paterson in NJ for my RN- BSN. Does anyone know about their program? I was told I can complete the program in 10 months. I am still deciding if it’s worth going there being that it’s a public institution, and I’m sure it’s competitive to get in. My GPA is a 2.89

I'm currently in the full time program, it's been pretty good so far! Most courses are weekly discussion boards and papers. I've just come across my most challenging course, which is Advanced Patho, and it's my second course with exams as well as discussion boards . I'm fortunate to be able to scale back from work to focus on this class cuz its a lot of info in half the time, but if you're motivated and stay on top of your assignments, you'll be fine. I also like the idea of doing graduate courses during undergrad so that's a plus because it gives you a headstart for your Masters etc.
Also, I want to add that the full-time program is 2 classes per 7-week period with a week break at the end of each 7-week semester. The full-time program is 10 months, though there is a part-time option that will take longer.

Would you say its best not to work a full time job while trying to pursue the RN to BSN at Willy P? I currently work 3 days a week (night shift) and I truly just want to get this BSN over with. What would suggest?

It's definitely doable, I found it easy up until Patho but that's because I don't mind writing. The only reason why I took a step back from work was because I was just starting in the ICU when this semester started and that was already a learning curve and I didn't want to fall behind in Patho. I think that if you devote those other 4 days to classwork, you can balance both. A lot of students in my class are working full time and have families so I'm sure you'll do fine. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Is Advanced Patho part of the graduate program? Are you assigned weekly papers? How long are the papers?
Thank you.

Thank you so much for the response. Last couple of questions, are there clinical hours or practicum hours that has to be completed? Is there a lot of group work or group assignments? Is the program 100% online?

It is a graduate class but it is also given in the BSN program as a headstart of sorts. You also have the option to take Advanced Pharm in undergrad, but I don't think that Patho is optional. This particular class consists of weekly discussion boards and 3 exams each worth 20% of your grade. Other classes are weekly discussion boards as well as papers, usually around 4-5 pages. The longest paper I had was my final Nursing Research paper, which was 8 pages.

You're welcome! 🙂 There are no clinical/practical hours in the RN to BSN program. It is 100% online. If I remember correctly, the first two semesters had a class with group projects (I hated them LOL). The classes mostly consist of weekly discussions where you post a discussion, and you have to respond to at least 2 classmates each week. My Healthcare Economics class also had discussions as well as 2 open book exams and 2 homework quizzes. My Advanced Patho class was not open book and we use lockdown browser with a webcam. (Apparently it used to be open book, I'm not sure if it's changed as a whole or if it's just my Professor but I'm assuming it's overall.). Patho consists of weekly discussion boards and 3 exams each worth 20% of your grade. It goes by pretty quickly so make sure to stay on top of your assignments!

I was accepted to William Paterson's RN to BSN online program. Looking for feedback good or bad from anyone that attended/graduated from this program.
- Is this program doable to complete in 12 months like it advertises?
- I know a semester is 7 weeks long. Can you take more than 1 class during that time?
- How many classes did you take each semester?
- Are classes difficult? I did the LPN to RN route and was always told that's the hard part. BSN is easy.
Thanks in advance!
