So I just got into long beach state's nursing for the fall, but now I'm a little worried because of my background check. I've gotten one ticket my entire life about 2 years ago, for Urination in Public (Misdameneaor Sp?) I went to court and asked to do community service and got it dropped to an infraction. I was wondering if this will keep me from being admitted? I work at a hospital right now and got hired with it on my background, just curious.
Thanks in advance,
Nick

I can't imagine it will be a problem, as long as it won't stop you from practicing as a nurse. At our school, they said if you have anything on your record, check with the board of nursing to make sure it won't prevent you from getting a nursing license. If it will, they won't accept you--there's no point in going to school if you can't be a nurse in the end. If it won't prevent you from getting a license, they're fine with it.

What an odd thing to get a ticket for.
^^^ I agree, I was sick and the place we stopped at had no bathroom so i went to the back and with my luck a cop drove in and seen me. I was even trying to hide behind the bushes and it was dark.
Anyways, thanks for the responses

You're lucky--I've actually heard of people having to register as a sex offender after things like public urination and public nudity (like streaking at a football game, etc.). It's crazy, but those types of offenses come under the heading of sex offenses in some places.
