I will be applying soon to the CNA program.
I know there are a certain amount of hours required by the state to become a CNA; however, I will be taking the TEAS exam on a class day.
This might be a silly question, but will they drop me from the program if I miss 1 day?

Hello I am sure this depends on your particular program but we had a girl in our class that missed one day of the hands on study due to taking the PAX-RN and they didn't allow her to pass. She had to take the class again because she didn't have enough hours to successfully take the state exam. I hope this isn't the case with your school I would talk to your professor ASAP about it!

I would read your school's policies. In mine, they allow make-up time but only as available. In short, the BON requires all hours complete so if you don't make up the time somehow, then you will not pass. So definitely talk to someone asap.

it depends on your school... You have to have a minimum of x amount of hours. Some will allow you to make up the hours. I was able to miss 2 days but those hours had to be made up with hours in the nursing lab or extra course work/essay work outside of the lab. It was a pretty big PITA.

In my program, the policy reads that we have to make up every missed hour and we pay $35/hour to make up this time. The state of CA is very strict on how many hours in lecture and in clinicals and the school did not build in a buffer of any kind. If we are unable to make up the time, we are unable to take the exam.
Personally, I would see if you can reschedule the TEAS exam if possible. It's usually offered in several locations and at various times. I would miss work before I missed class.
