Will I fail my clinicals??

Hi everyone! So I've been completing my last days of clinicals this week and everything was going pretty well until my last day. So I had to do a regular blood sugar test on a client. I never had trouble doing that until then. I had the blood sample on the strip and I was waiting for the result. Idk why but I pull the strip out of the monitor before I could get the result??????? And of course it was the only time my instructor came with me for a blood sugar test. So I took another blood sample and get my result, feeling bad for my client, but okay. After that my instructor asked me where I put the needles I used and I putted them in the trash instead of a biomedical yellow container

I also had to take vitals. But just before entering my patient's room, a RT came in to give her a treatment. Just before that she took her SpO2 and it was under the minimal value we could tolerate for this patient and I make the mistake to think that with the treatment it would be okay AND I did not control SpO2 again after that since the RT took it and give her a treatment that was supposed to increase the value.

my instructor was not happy at all with that and I can't help but think my clinical evaluation will be very bad and that it will make me fail since these are pretty bad mistakes..

Considering im in first year second semester, do you think it's enough to fail??

Do you understand why putting a dirty needle in the trash is a huge no-no?

How do you know if the treatment the RT gave the patient was effective without reassessing? The treatment was "supposed" to improve her SpO2 but how do you know that it did? You didn't check it. In the real world, if a nurse didn't re-assess the patient and something bad happened, her behind would be on the line. It's important that you take these mistakes seriously.

I do understand why we need to take precautions with old needles, but I don't know why I just Had a moment of absence in which I wasn't thinking about that :/ I was feeling soo bad after that...

I'm feeling terrible Also for the SpO2 incident and I will surely not repeat Those mistakes again. I just hope my instructor will be comprehensive and see that I can learn from my mistakes..

Do you ever have a problem with feeling anxious when others are "watching". This sounds just like something I would do on my everyday life. I get so nervous even though my instructor is very understanding and calm. I have no idea why but I also make some silly mistakes at times in front of her. She usually just corrects me and we move on but it is uncomfortable.

So I doubt they will fail you. At my school you need warning and a sort of paper trail to follow. I think there would be more discussion.

at my school, we're not allowed to take blood sugars/chem strips in clinicals. I'm guessing because so many things can go wrong?

I don't think I become anxious when my instructor watches me something i'm supposed to master, but I am definitely more stressed and it's usually during those times that I make mistakes, like really dumb ones and like you, most of the time it's not a big deal and we just move on. We also have a warning sheet and mine is still blank! I totally forgot that, I supposed that's a good sign :)
