Will this hurt my chances of getting accepted?

Published

Hello,

So I was a 4.0 bio major for two years, and suddenly during the last semester things started to go down hill. I ended up only taking 12 credit hours, but I still got a D in one of my classes, dropping my gpa to a 3.81. That semester I was diagnosed with depression and general anxiety order. I don't want to make excuses, but I really believe my mental state at the time really prevented me from getting the grade I could have.

I decided to make some changes, and I'm switching colleges and want to switch over to a nursing program. The good news is the class was a general elective, and it won't even transfer as anything to the new college. If I continue on with the prereqs and make good grades, will the fact that I failed one class look negative?

I'm also afraid that if it comes up, they might think I won't be able to handle the nursing program.

Any opinions are appreciated. Thank you!

How does the nursing school you want to attend determine acceptance gpa, cumulative or just prerequisites?
