Will home health experience get me hired?

I currently work in home health care as a CNA but in a year from now, I would like to apply to a hospital. I am wondering if I should also take up work at a nursing home as well since the work I do is "unstructered" and LTC facilities are structered more like a Hospital. My ultimate goal is to become a RN at the local hospital so I really want to become a CNA/PCT there first so I have an "in" when I graduate. I live in Californias Bay Area and they are somewhat strict on the minimum employment required for CNA/PCT in hospitals. Is home health care adequate enough experience that will get me hired? Also, I have BLS certification and I am working on getting ACLS, PALS, NRP, Acute CNA, and some other certifications as well so I have a better chance. I am also considering becoming a CMA(clinical) because I have noticed that the hospital I want to work for literally has more classifieds for CMA's than all the other jobs combined. I am worried though because I have heard that it's harder to get work as a medical assistant than it seems and the work is more clerical work than clinical. Also, the classified do not list whether they are looking for Clinical or Administrative medical assistants. I have considered becoming a LPN/LVN as well but all the affordable programs in my area have since closed down and the vocational schools charge 30k and up for LVN programs and that is out of my price range. The closest affordable program is 100's of miles away and I can't move either. Anways, does anybody know anybody with similar experience that has been hired at a hospital? Thanks:nurse:

Neither home health nor LTC experience are usually enough for hospital hiring purposes, but that does not mean you should not engage in healthcare employment. I would suggest doing both the LTC work and continue with one or two shifts of hh, so that you can talk up both as providing you with useful experience. The more varied and extensive your experience, the better your chances. Good luck.
