Will graduate in May 2007...

and I've heard different opinions from other nurses. Please tell me what you guys think. Like I said, I will graduate in May 2007 (if the Lord wills it) and have two children ages 7 and 9. I would like to be there for them and used to be interested in becoming a teacher. So I have been toying with the idea of becoming a school nurse. I've heard you should have at least 5 years of previous training (ER, peds, etc.) I've heard too that they just throw you in there and you better know your stuff because you are totally resonsible. I still have worries that I don't know what I'm doing (granted I have one more year left of school) but what if I still feel like this when I graduate? Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

How much experience and whether you are working independently depends on the situation in your local area. You should check with school nurses locally.

I am aware of (just a few) school nurses being hired right out of school in areas where two school nurses cover a large school together.
