Hello to all! Can somebody tell me about United Regional Healthcare System in Wichita? What is the working condition in their telemetry/stepdown unit, and ICU or the whole hospital. What is Wichita like with regards to quality of life, cost of living, public schools, as compared to Birmingham UK? Thank you very much...

I have no idea how the two compare, but I used to work part-time at United Regional Hospital while I was stationed at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls.

ICU is the better of two places to work, and they just built a new CCU/CVICU unit about 3 yrs ago.

The hospital is decent size, pay about average (expect somewhere around low 20's for full-time base salary for experienced RN), cost of living is fairly inexpensive....Overall the hospital is average to slightly above average compared to other civilian places I have worked.

There is basically only three large places to work for nurses in Wichita Falls. United Regional, Sheppard AFB, and Kell West hospital (very small 40 beds).

Wichita Falls has population of 100,000+, but feels more like 30,000. There are no other big cities within a two-hour drive, but Dallas and Oklahoma City are both two hours away. The public schools are ok and they also have a couple of private schools in Wichita Falls.

Hope this helps.

Your response is much appreciated.
