Why so many Ped HH cases

Published

HI

I am trying to get my foot in the door in HH. My local HH agencies are hiring for peds only. Why so many peds cases and no adults? I found one willing to train me and let me work a shift a week but it is far from home and I can only do shift not per case. I don't want to give up my hosptial job yet I work 3nites a week. Any advise should I take a job in peds / 8hr a week or wait till one of the other agencies closer to home call with adult but that for some reason can be a long time.

Why are there so many peds vs adult HH cases lately

If you take the one case that is 8 hrs a week, then you will have some experience when you look around elsewhere. Also, if you start out by helping out that one agency on that case, they might be more inclined to look for something that is closer to home for you or for more work for you in the future. I would weigh the rate of pay versus the cost of driving that far. If it is too far, probably not worth it in terms of personal aggravation. Good luck.
