Why me? I am an alternate @VVC

Published

I just got my alternate acceptance letter from VVC, I can't say that I am happy. I really don't know how to feel. I was so sure that I was going to get in. :smackingfI feel like I have been set up, because the letter said that I had been accepted it even went as far as giving me an entry date and a graduation date. If I am not accepted as an alternate for my anticipated date do I get in the following semester or what? I haven't had a chance to call and see what number I am on the alt waitlist. I will do that Monday and hope that the news is not to bad. If anyone has any info please respond.

Trying to hold my head up

i also received a letter similar to yours. I'm sad about it because i worked very hard to get in. my letter didn't say I'm accepted, it just gave a list of stuff i need to get done before admission and registration. i myself don't know how to feel. what school did you apply to.

Let us know what number you are on the list. At my school, they've lost 15 of the original class (since Fall 2009) and the alternates have taken their places. I don't know the process since I am trying to get into nursing school as well but I assume that the alternates attend class and do everything the rest of the students are doing.

Well this morning I got up and called the Victor Valley College Nursing Program. The lady that I talked to told me that they were going to email letters to all the alternates explaining more in detail what it means to be an alternate. I also asked what number I was on the alternate list and she told me that they don't number their alternates. All I want to know is if I don't get in for my select semester will I be guaranted a spot for the following. I will be keeping my fingers crossed.

I hope I get in like that. I know alternate is still better than a flat out no.

Okay guys, I called again and talked to the director she told me.

The alternates take the spaces of those that drop off the list. They will be contacting all students on the wait list shortly with a more detailed explanation of what it means. Yes, if I do not get in Fall I am guaranteed Spring, but, it's more likely I will move up on the list instead of back.

I am #53 of 73, but the draw number doesn't necessarily mean I won't move. Usually large batches of students are moved at a time. I wonder if the 73 is out of the total amount of applicants.

just make sure you don't owe the scholl money, and fulfill all the requirements, like cpr and vaccine. my school put me on a wait list because i owe money.
