Why is it so difficult to get hired in NH

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am a seasoned RN with 16 years experience in ER, Home health and LTC. I have been on many interviews and nothing.I just got 2 separate interviews with Concord Hospital. In NY any interview I went on I received an offer. NOT HERE. I have been told I interview well. So whats the issue ?????

Please help me figure this out ......so frustrated

The economy hit NH hard, so there aren't a lot of jobs open as many nurses had to keep working full-time when they would rather have gone to part time or retired because their husbands are out of work and their kids boomeranged.

When you interview and they ask you if you have any questions, make sure your last one is, "Thank you very much for this very good interview. When should I expect to hear from you?" After that, if you don't hear from them, a day after the d-day, call and speak to the interviewer.

If she says she regrets not being able to offer you the job at this time, remain unfailingly gracious and ask if there was anything you could do to make yourself a better candidate.

If she says they had several good ones but could only hire one, still remain gracious, commiserate with her about how hard that must be for them, and ask if she could keep you in mind for future openings.

Hang in.

I had no idea it was so competitive here. Thank you so much for the feed back. Fingers crossed.

Not too far from Boston and a pretty good UVermont school in Burlington. Yep. Good luck!

I interviewed on Monday with Genesis. Went well and they asked me for references. All parties were present so no need for second interview. The DON advised me she would make a decision early next week. Then I got a tour of the facility by the ADON. Fingers crossed. I have another multiple job interview tomorrow at concord hospital for three separate positions all the department managers will be present. I would hope to get an offer by next week ? I did thank the DON for a wonderful interview and told her I look forward to hearing from her ??

Hopeful?

Here we go again. I am at a loss. They checked my references ... good I thought and yesterday I get a call from the DON I need to vome in for a second interview. I was under the impression we did that on the first when all parties were present that needed to be so we could avoid a second interview . Any suggestions? I interview today at 4pm
