oh my gosh! me too! i had these 4 men sitting behind me that talked the entire time. it was so hard to concentrate. the teachers mostly ignored them, but i couldn't. then to top it all off, i put a reminder in my phone to bring something to class the next day (during an announcement period) and was brought into the office to discuss my incessant texting. um, one time and i wasn't even texting. i'm a 40 year old serious student who was there to learn and listened quietly the entire time. but, they ignored the guys who talked loudly during lectures for 2 weeks straight. there were several teenagers who texted on a regular basis and i never saw even one of them called in for a "talk". ugh!!
oh, and the dumb people... just wait. in clinicals you will see that they seem to make the best caregivers. book smarts just isn't the test as to how well someone will do in this job. compassion is the key.
hang in there. you can do anything for a couple weeks...

I just started my LNA course. The class is large-23 people.I am motivated to finish, find a job and then start an ADN-RN program next fall. I started two days ago.
On the first day, the woman (she is 45, I am 35) would tap my arm after the instructor explained something and would ask, "What did she say?" Everything the instructor said is in our book. Why is she asking me? After the third tap, I pointed to her book and said, "It's all in there"
On that same day, there were also quite a few talkers who were just rambling on right as the instructor was speaking and/or while the videos were playing. We were reviewing CPR which, of course, is essential.
Yesterday I scored a seat in a quieter group. Then came CPR with the mannequin. Another "talker"(and she was older,too...I can almost expect this from some of the young kids..and don't get me wrong, they can be little chatterboxes,too..but not this bad) asked me my name and where I was from. Again, this isn't social hour for me. It is my chance to build a new career and to become a self sufficient single mother. I simply said, "I'm trying to hear the instructor" because, after all, I may have to use CPR to save someone's life.
Are most LNA students this....moronic??? The instructor actually called people out for talking in class yesterday. I felt that it was so disrespectful to the teacher, other students, etc
Does it get better in a regular nursing program?
