So this is more a rant....In the midst of my diligent job searching through mazes of job boards I had to stop and rant after reading this for the 14,354,353,546 time. But I want you all to leave your responses and impressions when you read these kind of things on job boards... Whether a new grad position or not. I want everyone's feedback.

"Each application should consist of two professional reference letters, transcripts, and a 600 word essay on why you want to work here."

The hell???????????? I am a new grad, why the **** do you think I want to work here, it's the only place that will accept my application and I might have a shot! It is so difficult to get a nursing job, any professional job as a new grad in any field for that manner.

 I get we have to write some bogus paper stating how great the facility is etc etc, which I do agree LOOK UP INFORMATION about the place etc, but c'mon really...... The hiring people have to know 80% of those papers are royally embellished fluff to land the job and get experience + pay. Lol... I mean really... Why.... Why do you think?! I am new and got bills to pay! :x3:

Think about it from their perspective as the hiring managers. It's likely they are receiving MANY applications for the same position and each person has the same basic required qualifications. While I can't guarantee they even read the essays, it does give them a way to claim they have made a more informed decision on who they interview and ultimately hire. It also weeds out some people who won't follow their directions.
