Who's Hiring in NC?

Published

Specializes in Med/Surg.

Hi, I'm still considered a new graduate nurse. I have nine months experience on a med/surg/tele/stepdown unit. I curently care for up to seven patients including doing my own admissions. I care for dialysis pt.'s, pre and post-op pts, pts. with chest tubes, simple to complicated dressing changes, pts. just transferred from the ICU etc. And of course a lot of them are on tele. I'm interested in finding a new job and have looked at several hospital websites including moore regional, wake med, duke and UNC. UNC is looking at new graduates but you have to have all these letters of recommendation from your school of nursing. I don't feel that, that applies to me as I've been out of school for over a year. But otherwise their positions state that you have to have at least one year experience. I just wanted to know if there is any hospital in the triangle region willing to hire someone with nine months experience. I'd really like to get away from the med/surg area. My passion is OB but I don't see that anyone would hire me in that field without one year. Any ideas?

I would be v. surprised if anyone considered someone who's been working on a busy med-surg unit (full-time, I assume?) for nine months a candidate for "new graduate" programs. How about you stick with your current job another three months, and then you'll have the year of experience everyone's asking for. I know that isn't what you want to hear, but three months isn't v. long ...

Best wishes!
