Who's getting ready to apply to nursing programs?

U.S.A. Oregon

Hi,

So...it's toward the end of the quarter and I suspect everyone is adding up their points to see where they fall in the pecking process. I plan to apply to CCC and PCC next month. I'm just curious were people are in the point system. God this is nerve wracking. At CCC my OCNE points bring me to 54.8. I have three more discretionary points in the bag, and am working on six more, for a total of 63.8. I haven't added up the PCC points as of yet.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Mt Hood I have 64 Points

Clackamas I have 63 Points

PCC I have 56 points...

Saribeari,

Looks great.

I'm getting ready to apply to PCC w/ 62 points. Does anyone know what the cut-off was last year?

I don't know what the cut-off was, but I spoke with one of the people who reviews the applications at PCC. She gave me the breakdown of the typical student who was accepted for 2010. Now before saying this I'm expecting to read a reply with, "I know someone who didn't have such and such and got in". The short story is that the average accepted student came in with 60 points, a prior four-year degree, and a 3.9GPA. My total PCC points came to 59.8, and besides that I match the other candidates that got accepted. Does that mean I'll get in? No, and I know that. My drawback is that I have no CNA hours. God, if I had that I could have strolled in with just shy of 65. It's getting tougher and tougher each year.

Applications are nerve-wracking - I think the points system almost makes it worse! PCC is the only CC I'm applying at, since I don't think I have enough points to be competitive at the others - and I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 59.5! Hopefully it'll be enough... Or I'll get into a BSN program :)

Good luck to you guys - I keep envisioning the bounty of nursing school seats, and reminding myself that I'll get where I need to go.
