Who's afraid of the economy???

Hi All, so I'm very very VERY surprised to see all the threads about hospitals closing and lack of jobs for nurses. I was completely out of the loop. I'm transitioning to nursing bcse I want to do healthcare and bcse I thought nurses were always in demand and can get a job anywhere. It will be 2-3 years before I have a RN and hopefully things will open up, but I have to admit this is really surprising. Wondering if I should supplement something with my nursing curriculum. Anyone else concerned??

Welcome to the job market! There is NO SUCH THING as job security, or a guaranteed job. Nursing may offer greater employment opportunities than many other professions, but there is no guarantee.

Right now, the biggest hassle seems to be with new grads trying to find jobs. It seems (to me, at least) that experienced RN's may have less problems in finding employment.
