Who works (or used to) Registry?

Published

I'm wondering if anyone could tell me the rate for registry in Chicago. My background is Med/Surg and Telemetry. I know some registries pay more for Telemetry. I currently work Registry in California and get paid about $500 per shift. I want to work Registry when I move to Chicago just to check out the area hospitals. I also want to see how much of a pay cut (if any) I'll be taking by moving to Chicago. Any info greatly appreciated...

I'm not working registry but did try to get a registry position. I don't think I'm real successful with that right now cause I don't have enough experience and they seem to want people with more experience. Anyway the rates that were quoted to me greatly differed. Place A was $31/hour for 4 shifts in a 4 week period and $36/hour for 6 shifts in a 4 week period. Place B was around $26 or $27/hour which I thought was pretty low. It probably depends on where you work and how much they pay for registry. You're probably not going to make as much in Illinois as you are making in California but I'm sure you already know that.

mercy hospital/loyola/northwestern all pay 40-45/hr.

Upper 40s are the norm for ICU nights. Some places such as U of I hit upper 50s for weekend night programs, but can be VERY clickish. People dont like you messing with their hours at that pay rate. Once overtime kicks in Im at 69 an hour without any kind of bonus. ICU hospitalist here makes 75 :)
