Which Uni is the best to apply for nursing program (in FL?)

Published

Hello everyone, I'm a new member here. Happy to talk to everyone.

I don't have any medical background. Im going to apply to a nursing's program somewhere in Florida. I think I will need to take an English academy first before studying the main program

Anybody here knows which is the best uni in FL to study nursing? Many thanks in advance. cheers

There are many fine schools in Florida. Here are some things to consider when making a choice:

  1. Is the school accredited? Regional accreditation is VITAL, and either CCNE (BSN) or ACEN/ CNEA (ADN) accreditation is important.

  2. What is the school's first-time NCLEX pass rate? It should be at LEAST at the national average.

  3. To whom to school officials answer- shareholders (for-profits) or students (non-profits)? I have seen three different for-profits go under and leave students with nothing but debt in the last three years in my state. Avoid for-profits!

  4. Affordability? Do not overpay for a degree?

Bottom Line: If a school is easy to get into- there is a reason and it is NEVER a good reason.

There are a ton of universities that offer nursing programs in Florida: Florida State, University of Florida, University of Central FL, University of South FL, University of North FL, University of West FL, and probably more. I haven't heard terrible things about any of them. You can always take a look at their NCLEX pass rates and attrition rates to get a good idea of how well their students do in and out of the program.

There are also loads of state colleges that offer ADN and BSN programs that are affordable.

If it's not a state college/university, just check for accreditation and such since I've heard Florida is a bit more lax on what programs they will approve while other states may not be so happy with them.
