Which state has easier change of getting in...

My undergrad GPA is 3.1 and I just had too many Withdrawals and a few Fs... (Didn't drop classes on time) a long time ago. I'm planning to take biology courses and apply for an ABSN, but my grades ten years ago, are hindering me from pursuing nursing... I called one school in CA and the counselor said that it's been over 5 years so the courses expired, and since it's been a long time, those grades will not affect that much if I take the prereq do okay. But still I'm worried.....

I'm willing to relocate to any state in US-- Which STATE (or School) are easier (if there's any) to get in?

Please help me guys!!

It's very hard to get into programs here in California. You tend to need around a 3.8 in prereqs and upper 80's-90's on the TEAS to have a good chance of getting in. I think the bigger the city, the harder it is to get in. If you can afford it, private schools tend to be a bit easier to get into, because not as many people can afford it.

I know an ABSN looks like the quickest way to get to nursing but if it's not realistic to get in, have you considered other paths that will take you longer but will ultimately get you there? You can go the community college route and get an ADN. There are more ADN programs in California than ABSN ones. How about a traditional BSN program?

Like the other poster mentioned, private schools seem to be a little easier to get into because of the tuition. Mount Saint Mary's has an ABSN program that costs about 18k a semester! Their minimum GPA is 3.0 but I'm sure there are still a lot of applicants.

If you really want to do the ABSN, you can always try but don't put your eggs into 1 basket. You should also apply to BSN and ADN programs just to have some options. I know the cost of transcripts and applications can get tricky but it's an investment in your future.

I'm sorry I don't know any schools that are easier to get into since I'm in CA and they're all competitive.

Did you mean easier chance?
