Which province is easier to get your nursing registration as IEN in Canada?

Published

Hello

I am a registered nurse in Nepal. I have been working as a nursing instructor and an RN for approximately 6 years now.

I am in the process of my permanent resident application to Canada. So, I am thinking to initiate the nursing assessment as I still have plenty of time. Since I am flexible to choose the province, I would want to know which province is comparatively easier to get registered as a foreign nurse. Also, how difficult it is to transfer your registration from one province to another?

I hope to get some suggestions.

Cheers

It doesn't matter which province you intend to apply to, the starting point for IENs is to have their education assessed by national nursing assessment service (nnas). Suggest you read through the thread entitled 'nnas assessment?' you can find it by using the search tool in the top right hand corner. The chances are high that your education will be deemed somewhat comparable or not comparable to a Canada BSN and the provincial regulatory body will require you to undergo a competency assessment. After which, you may be required to undergo a bridging program before you will be allowed to write the nclex. It is a good idea to do as many steps of the licensing process before moving to Canada.

Thank you dishes
