I have taken both Courses. I can say without hesitation, that the WCEI course is thorough and prepares you for what you'll experience in the clinical setting. Their credential is widely recognized and their support is evident on many levels. The resources on their website are amazing and the community of WCCs is very supportive and engaging. They have an extensive network on Facebook, Twitter and interact with everyone who chooses to do so. I stay in touch with the instructors from time to time. They are approachable and helpful.
I found the class to be tough but rewarding. The class atmosphere is supportive and gives you the push you need to absorb the information in preparation for the National Exam. I would recommend the WCEI course. Feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss.

I have taken the WCEI course and it was the best I have taken, even of all my college courses. They often come to the Bay Area to give their certification classes. I just looked for you and they are coming to Sacramento in August and San Fran in September. They are also doing a one day class just for ce's, but, it is coming up on July 13th and would be a good teaser for you to see exactly how good these people are. I am going to their WOW conference in September in Vegas, I go every year because I just can't get enough.
On the other hand, my friend took the Wound Educators course and she was not prepared for her exam.
Hope this helps. Contact me directly with questions. Thanks!

I'm an LPN in LTC and just finished the wcei course-tough, thorough, and well prepared me for the exam, which I just found out today I passed! You do need to check out the pre-reqs for taking the course, the website explains all this very clearly. They offered a 4-day course in Denver C0, which is 3 days of intense lecture, followed on the 4th day by the national exam. The cost was steep, see if your employer will pay some/all of the cost. There is also re-cert. required q 5 yrs. Go for it! Wound care is growing speciality now, new products, standards and expectations are evolving-be the expert!

I completed the WCEI course week before last in Houston, TX and I highly recommend the course. It was thorough enough to prepare to intelligently communicate to peers regarding wounds and all there is to know about them. Mine was a 4 day course, ending with a paperand pencil exam on day 5. They say it takes 7-10 business days to find out if you pass....it took them 3 business days after the exam for me! There are many roads to being eligible to taking the exam, just review them carefully on their website, Wound Care Education Institute or the NAWC website (the credentialling body).
The other website you mention is more of a site which provides a prep course to prepare you to take the CWS exam. From what I was told, the CWS exam goes more into the immunology behind wound healing and the like (much much more detail than what is really needed, unless one decided to delve deep into research, IMO).
WCEI travels all over the country so I would look them up to see when they will be in your area next. Hit me up should you need any info.

i just finished the wound educators course. i didn't find it very helpful or supportive either. they don't respond back in a timely manner. when emailing they are sometimes unresponsive. all my co-workers went elsewhere AND SEEM MORE PREPARED AND HAPPY than i with my choice. i am not bashing or UN-RECOMMENDING them EVERY ONE has their on experience and expectation. if i could do it again i would not have chosen wound educators.

I highly recommend the Wound Educators course - I had a great experience, and the reviews online and on facebook are all positive. I did my research before selecting, and WoundEducators.com offered more CE hours for my investment and was about a third of the cost of other courses. They also offer an until you pass guarantee which keeps your course open in the event you do fail your test. I also saw they just redid/updated their course, so I am sure it's even better than when I took it.
Hope this helps!
