Which one is better?? Bellevue College or Shoreline CC

Published

Hi I'm going to be a nursing student in fall, and I got into both Bellevue College and Shoreline CC. I've heard great things about both programs, but just wondering which one is more accredited in terms of the quality of teaching and clinical sites??

I've also heard rumors that Bellevue College is going to have BSN program in 2013/14...which I'm planning on applying to Bothell's RN to BSN program if I graduated with an ADN, so if Bellevue has that to offer in the future that'll be a plus.

Thank you for any advice and opinions, anything would help :)!!

Question for you...I do not see opportunities for ADN prepared students in that part of Washington. Do you have any info that would show otherwise as it would be helpful to me. I am graduating this December, from a CC in Alabama and desire to move out there but don't see how it will be possible. Not meaning to take your topic off point but to ask you for separate info. You can PM me, if you like. Thanks!

Honestly they are both good programs and you can't go wrong with either. I would go for the one that is more conveniently located for you. Another thing to think about is that Bellevue's program is 6 sequential quarters while Shoreline's program takes the summer off. I personally would rather just get it all done with no break.

To Diddledi,

It may be harder for you coming from out of state. People who graduate from programs here have the upperhand because they have had two years to network as they do their clinicals and may get hired right after graduating or at the very least have some leads as to where to start. Also, Bellevue College and Shoreline are both incredibly good programs which are well know by all the hospitals in the area for the quality of their graduates whereas I'm sure none of them know of a CC in Alabama.

However, I think your best bet would be to find a job at an assisted living facility or nursing home and network from there to get a higher paying job in a hospital once you get some experience.

Hope that helps!

Thank you bobobijoux for the reply :)

I actually called Bellevue College a few days ago asking them if their quarters are consecutive without summer break. Sadly they told me there is no class in summer quarter :(

I think the 10 quarter one has summer class but the 6 quarter one doesn't, which is sad because I really would like to finish school ASAP, but oh well, it is what it is.

Bellevue College student here. You are right, we do get the summer off. It is actually working out perfectly for me though. I am working full time over the summer which will help pay fall tuition.

As far as the program itself goes, I LOVE it! The instructors are engaging and brilliant. Of course the students that are not passing think the instructors suck. That is just how people are though, you know? Bellevue is going to start a RN-BSN program next year. Personally, I want my BSN to have a recognizable school on it for the sake of possibly continuing with a masters. But, if I dont get into UW Bothel or Tacoma, you can bet I will be jumping on the BC BSN program. Hope this helps. :)
