I have been working as a RN now for 1 year in a skilled nursing facility. Within that facility, we do take care of some hospice patients.
My passion is in hospice work. I did my nursing school community health rotation with a hospice. I did my master's thesis about palliative care. Hospice is my calling.
I am currently in a NP program and I would love to become a palliative care NP.
But, in the meantime, I want to get a job as a RN hospice nurse. I live in Sacramento, CA, one of the worst job markets in the country for recent graduates. I have sent out a lot of resumes and had one interview. I was not hired because that hospice wanted two years of experience, and I only have one year.
Does anyone know of a hospice company that would be more inclined to hire a RN with one year of SNF experience?
