Which NCLEX review books are you using?

Published

I've heard the Saunders book is good, is anyone using that? And do you use the comprehensive review guide, or do you buy all individual books for each course?

We're using Elsevier books and I came across this: http://www.us.elsevierhealth.com/Nursing/Review-NCLEX/book/9781437708257/Saunders-Comprehensive-Review-for-the-NCLEXRN-Examination/

Anyone have an opinion on this book?

Thanks!

Most of my instructors have had us buy the individual books that go with each class they all seem to like the "Prentice Hall Reviews and Rationales" series. They are nice because they give you a pre test and the rationales for each answer then they give you a small chapter to read giving you the key concepts about the topic of the chapter and then they give you a post test with the rationales.

We were issued a copy of Saunders NCLEX review as part of our textbooks -- so glad I don't have to buy it separately! I've heard good things about Saunders, thinking of maybe supplementing with Kaplan too..?

I use Saunders Comprehensive Review, Lippincott Q&A, and Mosby Q&A. I use these nclex books to study for theory test. The reason I like them so much is because they are broken down into sections i.e. - cardiovascular, GI, etc.

Saunders Comp. - The outlines given in the book are very useful and sometimes can be used if an instructor isn't very clear in their powerpoints or lecture. You HAVE to get the CD in the back. The questions in the book itself are limited (maybe 20?). The CD though is my favorite and most useful tool in school. It has almost 100, if not more, questions per section including F&E, lab values, acid-base, GI, you name it.

Lippincott & Mosby - I use these are supplemental questions on top of the Saunders CD. However, the CDs in these books are not as useful to me as study guides in school because they only offer comprehensive practice test rather that practice test on specific content area. the questions in the book though are great and broken down into content area.

**Save yourself some money and buy at least one edition old. I bought the newest edition and the one before it of the Saunders and the questions are 99.9% the same. It is way cheaper!
