So, I'm lucky enough that I've been offered two student nurse internship opportunities, but I'm torn as to which one I should take! One offers training to become an acute dialysis nurse at a very prestigious hospital, and guarantees a job after graduation. The other is on a med-surg floor at a less prestigious but still nice hospital, and you are given the opportunity to interview for a position after graduation, but no guarantees. I think that either one would be a great opportunity, but it's so hard to make a decision. Should take the dialysis one, considering that it is so hard to find a job nowadays, or the med-surg one because it would offer a better foundation? Any input would be appreciated!

If I was you I'd take the offer that guaranted that you would have the job. You are maybe not working in acute but still working in a hospital unit and I would think if the time came and you wanted to apply in another department you'd still have just a good chance as anyone else.
Besides again the med surge is not a guaranteed position and if you didn't get it would you be regretting not taking the dialysis job.
When you are a new nurse getting that first job and getting some experience under your belt can be important when one is looking at you resume. I'm sure time in dialysis looks better then no job at all.
Thanks! That is good advice. I'm just being very indecisive because like you said, I don't want to end up regretting my decision. And some people have said it might be hard to move to something else if I end up not wanting to do dialysis.
