Hi,

Im looking to become a military nurse-- specifically AF or Navy. I know I have to have a BSN from an accredited university. Which accredidation does the military look for? CCNE?

As far as ADN programs, what accredidation should I be looking for when I'm looking at schools? Does it matter? I'm thinking about doing my RN and then a RN to BSN program later.

Thanks!

CCNE is good, also ACEN. I am not sure, but I seem to remember that the Navy prefers or specifies CCNE.

Another thing about the Navy — they do not grant credit for any time spent working as an ADN-prepared RN. They only recognize BSN time onward. Air Force counts time from RN, period.

Thanks so much for your reply! I didn't know the Navy only counted time from your BSN onwards. Do you happen to know if it matters if you go to a for-profit school? I just enrolled in West Coast University here in California. Its fully accredited by WASC and the CCNE. Obviously my goal is to be a military RN, but I'm concerned they might not look as highly upon my degree since it isn't from a non-profit public or private university.
