Where do surgery centers post their jobs? Is it by word of mouth?

Published

Hello,

This may sound a bit odd (I'm not an nurse, my wife is) but I relocated to the Bay Area (East Bay, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon area) a couple of months ago due to employment. I've been trying to convince my wife to move up here with me (from the Inland Empire / SoCal) but she's hesitant due to the economy (and not having a job lined up). The time it took her to land a job as a new grad early last year didn't help either (took her several months, a stressful time).

She wants to stay in the PACU field (she's been working at the Loma Linda University Medical Center - East Campus (Acute Care) as a PACU nurse for more than year now and loves it) and I was wondering how and where Outpatient Surgery Centers post their jobs? My assumption is that these surgery centers look for PACU (per-diem) nurses but I can't seem to find any of them listed (online job posting) anywhere. Would giving these places a call be the best option?

Thanks in advance, any response / feedback appreciated.

Hi, good luck. When I moved to this area five years ago I found a list of surgical centers and sent out a short resume to all of them. Also several plastic surgeons have their own surgical centers, and GI doctors are opening up their own GI procedure clinics.

One center responded and I have worked their per-diem ever since.

I appreciate the response, we'll try that..
