Does anyone have any insight into how this intended move to DNP is being received by any state BONs? After all, none of this really matters much if the states continue to license Master's level degrees as NPs, right? Do the state boards even want or support this?
The fact that this move is apparently being driven entirely by academia, not by any apparent clinical (or patient!) need or motive, tells me all I need to know about it. I'm just curious how state BONs feel about having this crammed down their throats by the colleges of nursing.

I haven't heard anything about it at all from my state BON. As things stand now, in my state and, I imagine, most all states, advanced practice licensure requires national certification in the advanced practice specialty. If the national accrediting groups go to requiring a DNP for certification, that will make it a moot point with the states. However, if that happened and one or more states really didn't feel the DNP was necessary, the states could always change their own requirements to no longer require national certification.
