Where to start?

Ok I just got fired from a good state LPN job. I had some pills in my locker. Not narcotics but clonidine and some effect. I did not talk with investigator other than reminding him there was no lock on my locker and anyone could have put them in my locker. Other nurses confirmed that people have been in my locker getting coffee and sugar. I don't know where to start. Talk to a lawyer? They did not do a drug test and I don't do any illegal substances. I have some interviews this week. What to say? Please give some guidance. Thanks.? oh and this was a dept of corrections job so yeah that makes it a badddd deal.

Admit nothing. Get a lawyer and fight it.

Ask lawyer about getting your own drug test done. Urine/hair testing.

I'd find an attorney that specializes in employment issues asap. Did they report it to the Board of Nursing? If that is the case then search for an attorney that does both. Also get your own test done, urine and hair test.

Clonidine... is used for other things, but my doc always gave it to me for withdrawals when I was doing research and development.

You said “I had some pills in my locker,” not “someone put pills in my locker.”

Sounds fishy..... good luck, you’re going to need it.

I dont think your wording makes you guilty of anything..she was just explaining the background info.

Most lawyers advise to not discuss with others or post any further information to avoid discovery by other lawyers. Best wishes in getting this resolved.

lawyer up and get a drug test ASAP - urine and hair!

a few pieces of advice: (I work in corrections)

1.the previous poster who said not to post, had great advice. I would not be posting anything online.

2. a drug test is irrelevant, you did not mention the type of drugs found in locker, and time has passed anyway.

3. I do not know the circumstance of your particular employment, but in my experience in corrections everything is investigated thoroughly and nobody is let go over anything that has not been proven. However, the union is extremely strong, and people rarely get fired even for blatant issues. When people are being investigated and is not within a working test or orientation period, the employee is generally asked to "resign, or we will terminate you, based on....". if it is within a working test, employees are "counseled" in writing if they have had any issues and termination still requires a pretty strong paper trail.

4. we have directives outlining how prescriptions medications may be brought into facility if you need them.

5 the circumstances here would also depend on if the medications were ones that the facility provides and there is suspicion you are taking/using inmate medication.
