Where to start..a plea for help!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I have been looking over this forum and have found so many great opinions and want to get started on my nursing journey. I started back in 1993 when I took the pre admi exam for nursing...well I ended up opting for an AA in Secretrial Science/Medical (like medical assistanting) and grad in 95. I have recently obtained my transcript and really want to make a go of nursing, this is what I wanted then and never really did it but now after being married for 12 years and having a 7 year old and 2 year old I need something for "me" I am so confused as to where to go and what to do since I have been out of the loop for so long. I grad with a 3.89 so that should not be an issue. It is possible that my AA credits will transfer, however, I need to find an online school for the most part and need to work as well. I see there are some great role models on this forum and would love to hear of any suggestions that you have for me. I was thinking of starting with University of Phoenix and see what I can get done with them. I would appreciate any suggestions you have to offer. THANK YOU :wink2:

I am little confused, if you never recieved an ASN/ADN degree then you might not be eligible for online BSN degrees. At least that is the impression I am under.

I would advise you to check out your local community college. MOst non-science classes will transfer such as English, History etc. Psych and Socio might depending on how long ago they were completed and science is usually capped at 6-7 years at my community college.

However I do wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors.

Yes that is where I am confused too. I had 2 years of classes general and medical but my degree was Medical not stating nursing so I guess that it is for just plain medical assistanting. I guess I should make some calls and see where I stand and go from there. Thank you for your kind reply.

Where are you located? There is a college near me that offers a combined online program, all classes are online but all clinicals are in the local hospitals. There is also a "nights and weekends" program near me for working adults. Maybe you could find a program like this that would fit your life.
