Currently, I am a newly grad nurse who just passed my boards. I am currently here in the Philippines and I am attending trainings in BLS, EKG and ACLS. I came across nursing informatics and I was curious about this career. I was wondering where would I start if I would want to pursue this career. I know I need to pass the NCLEX first but after that where will I begin? Thank you for your time.

Yes first take the Nursing Boards, then get at least 1 year of experience practicing nursing. You can do your research now related to what the specialty is and what the roles are within Nursing Informatics. Its just like any other specialty within nursing. You dont go directly from nursing school in the specialty of critical care or OB, correct? Well the same is true for NI
Good Luck

I appreciate the feedback I've been reading from rninformatics, it is thoughtful and relevant. That said, I'm putting it out there that interest in this field specialty has dawned on me, too. I've been an RN for 7 years, and I've been a Psych RN for 5 years. I'm hoping that I can bridge into this field specialty without too much difficulty. One of the things I'm looking at is which school would be the best to pursue the education. Any advice, rninformatics? Thanks in advance.
Greetings and Welcome sscotzz,
That questions has been asked and answered numerous times by myself and other NI professionals who visit this Forum.
There are numerous schools (all across the USA) that provide excellent programs in NI, HIT, IS, Clinical informatics, etc.
You are in the right place so tour this forum and read, read, read.
Enjoy!
Thanks again, rninformatics...
Thank you sscoootzz,
