Hi all. I am looking into options. I am a med surg nurse but I loved L&D and women's health. I am getting my bsn and will continue to pursue my education. I am interested in the cnm role but don't know too much about it yet. Do cnm work with an ob group? Or on their own? What is the dynamic? Thanks!

CNMs can work with OBs in private practice, in hospital settings, in free standing birth centers, and depending where you live, they may also do homebirths. Many work with back-up OBs in the event that their client's need an emergency c-section. Here are some good links for research:
