Where can I get my CNA certification?

U.S.A. North Carolina

Hey Everyone,

I plan to apply to nursing school and one of the schools requires that you have CNA certification. I was just wondering if anyone knows where this can be done in the Raleigh, NC area. I have heard it can be done at nursing homes but do not know of any in the area that offer the program. How long do community college programs last? If anyone can help that would be great! Thanks!

Contact your local CC. The length of the class depends. The one I took while in high school was about 6 months, but it was only 2 nights a week. There are some that are all day, 5x week, and those are probably around a month or so. Continuing education is usually the department to check into for CNA info. HTH -Andrea

Wake Tech offers CNA classes. Call them!

I received my CNA1 certification in Raleigh by "challenging" for it at HealthCore Resources, Inc. They provide you with all the study information, then you take the written and skills tests. If you want more information, I will see if I can find their phone number.

As stated before, check with your community colleges (Wake Tech, Johnston County CC). Hopefully you will find a class soon. Keep us posted.

You can also try Thomas Healthcare Institute located off of Spring Forest Rd. in Raleigh. I don't know the specifics of their program b/c I did not personally attend, but I know of lots of other current nursing students that have.

I do know they offer both a day and evening CNA program.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Did you take a class in any other state prior to challenging it in NC? Were you a CNA in another state? I was hoping I could challenge by just doing self study.

Hi, you can challenge the CNA I exam in NC. Good luck with your endeavour into healthcare.

A lot of the private schools are expensive but they offer classes more often than the local CCs. I have a co-worker that paid over $800 at a private school in Raleigh! I am beginning my class at Durham Tech's Chapel Hill satellite campus on the 26th, and it was only about $200 plus books and supplies. I would advise registering early, as the classes fill up quickly....I had to hustle to get a spot!
