Yes. The library is the best site. That's what they do for a living.
A few things are on the internet ... but most of the free stuff is targeted for consumeres, not professionals. For the professional literature, you need to pay money to subscribe to the journals themselves and/or a service that gives you access to them and then pay about $12 per article. You can usually get a larger selection for free at your local nursing library.

Hi! I'm just a pre-req student, but I've been receiving nursing journals for a nursing exploration class I'm taking. A lot of the nursing magazines will send you a free issue. All you have to do is write 'cancelled' on the bill when you receive it. Once you are done with the magazines, you can take them to your school and let others have them. So far I have received the AJN, Nursing2004, and even a copy of the Perinatal & Neonatal Journal!
Another place you might look is your local hospital. I live in small town, which has a small hospital. Who knew they had a library..and it's open to the public! I haven't had a chance to get there yet, but my teacher (an RN at this hospital) assures me there are copies of all kinds of periodicals.
Sorry for rambling on! Can you tell I'm excitied about one day being a nurse? (plus I just got an A on my Psych midterm!)
