Where to begin as an aesthetic RN?

Published

I am currently halfway through my RN degree. I am planning ahead, and am wondering how to go about getting hired in the aesthetic field? Anyone who is an aesthetic RN, please tell me how you got hired the first time, OR how to even begin to get experience? I am willing to do almost anything, but I don't want to waste my or any employers time if you need experience first, if it's unheard of to hire a new grad. I am willing to take accredited courses, or work reception. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi Gamecockgurl, I'm in the process of updating my resume and cover letter to send out in hopes of obtaining an Aesthetic RN job. Can you send me your resume/cover letter you sent to obtain the job you have or give me some examples of what to write considering my only experience as an RN is in Step-down ICU. Thank you!

Hi everyone,

I am new to allnurses and was glad to find this topic. I worked in mental health as a counselor and switched to nursing by first becoming an LPN and then moving to an RN. I was able to quickly get a job as a mental health RN in a detox/mental health facility. I was going to go through training at the National Laser Institute, but acquired a job on a med/surg/trama floor. I don't think a floor nurse is for me and was going to go through with the 10 day training. I have been looking at jobs and it appears that most of them require 2-3 years of experience. This is a redundant question for any job field, but how does one get experience if medi spas require 2-3 years of experience. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also, what are good ways to network to get ones foot in the door. Organizations, forums, etc. Thank you in advance for your comments. :)
