Where to do my ABSN??

Published

Hello All,

I am looking for some ABSN advice…

Basically I am looking for recommendations on where to apply and what programs people would recommend with my specific career/life goals. Overall my biggest concern is cost. I would love to have as little debt as possible upon graduation.

A little background to provide some context: I have a bachelor's degree with a 3.7 gpa, and have taken Microbiology, A&PI, Stats, Lifespan, and Nutrition (all As) since graduating college. Reasonably, I would need to take 2-4 more prerequisites before being eligible to attend most ABSN programs. I currently have residency in MD, but am willing to move ANYWHERE if it fits my criteria.

I also am a Spanish speaker and would love the opportunity to work with a Latino population.

Another compelling interest would be a school with good access to the outdoors as I am an avid rock climber/hiker/mtn biker/etc.

I guess my biggest question is does a program meeting all of these requirements exist?

Is it possible to get an ABSN on the cheap?”

What is the general opinion of getting an accelerated ADN and then doing an online RN to BSN program while working?

Are federal loan forgiveness programs a pipe-dream?

Is it at all common to find a job/hospital post-graduation that offers some type of student loan assistance?

I know there are a lot of questions here, any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Based on programs with not so expensive tuition I would say apply to Southern CT State University . The program is under 20k & is well respected . There are hospitals around this school that love bilingual nurses because not all of the older Spanish patients can fully communicate in English . The only prereqs you are missing is a 100 level math & psych 100 (which are pretty easy)

Also there are schools in Puerto Rico that have programs for much cheaper as well (under 20k). They have the program in both Spanish & English . University of Turabo is one of them but I can't remember the other programs .

Good Luck !
