I currently work as a wound care specialist in a hospital. I graduated and earned my MSN, so I have a signature with MSN. I fot my FNP certification and now am licensed in a state. When I sign my notes and emails, I am fine with MSN, RN, certs. But now that I have my FNP-BC, but not working in that role, should I omit it from my notes/emails (and business card) at work since my role is not a prescriber/provider?

Interesting that 2 of our wound care specialist nurses at work actually use the FNP-BC title in their signatures. I don't know if it will matter. Role confusion might get brought up, but as long as the hospital staff are aware of your actual role when you see patients and you clarify it when questioned.
As we are always told, legally, NP's working in a non-provider role are held to the standard of an NP in terms of liability.

Just combine them and say APRN or something and move on. No one knows what the FNP means, and no one really cares that you (or any of us) has a master's degree.
