I'm try to bridge to someone school maybe moraine valley or another but I dont have all my pre reqs so I wanted to know will I still have to do all those pre reqs even though im an lpn and bridgeing over? thanks in advance:heartbeat

At CCC yes. but many of the programs will work with you as far as being able to apply without first having the pre reqs. but by the time you enroll you need them all.

It can transfer over. Keep in mind that many schools will reject anything over five years. Check with the admittance dept.

That is sort of true at Chicago Community Colleges CCC which includes KKC, Malcolm X, Olive Harvey, Truman, Daley, ect.

Your A & P I & II WILL EXPIRE AND YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE THEM OVER. However, Biology and Chemistry can be retaken as "audit" which basically means you sit in the class every once in a while.

All the other pre reqs stay good.

Also, with CCC there is no longer a 1 year work requirement, you can bridge straight over.

I just asked this question, so I'm glad I found this thread. Because my science courses are about expire if I have them audited will I still have a chance to get accepted into a RN program before the audit is complete?

Update:

the above information was true at the date of writing (Feb 25, 2009). The following info i heard throught the grape vein at Wright: that they are letting students in despite having expired science classes. However, I dont know if this applies to everyone since the announcement was made to students from the "carreras de salud" program. It very well may.

Definitely call and ask that question and be sure to speak to whoever does admissions which is most likley the director. If you put in an application generally follow up with them because Ive heard first hand accounts of them misplacing applications and not considering students until the following semester. This happened to me at Kennedy King.

Be advised that if RN is your ultimate goal at Wright the you must have your LPN in hand at the time of application for the bridge program. You will not receive your licience in less then two months after graduation from the program. It is set up so it is very tight to go straight from the LPN to the RN 5 months later. Only 2 people out of a class of 45 succeded in doing so (surley all did not try). So, realize the most likley there will be a 10 month gap between your LPN and RN, but you can work during that gap.

The bridge program at other CCC: Turman , malcolm x, olive harvey, daley, KKC requires extry only in the summer and each has slightly different policies regarding admission so you have to call, generally speaking your sciences have to be current.

I was asking about the classes because I actually already have my BS in public health and pretty much all the prereqs that are required for the RN programs were required for my major as well, but I completed those classes at least 4 or almost 5 yrs ago. Since I know it's so competitive to get accepted in the RN programs I firgured doing the LPN and bridging would be easier since my classes are about to expire, but I didn't know if the classes still had to be within 5yrs if I did it that way. I would prefer to just go straight to RN, but I don't want to take those sciences classes again. But thanks for all the useful info.
