I am looking to start working in NYC either August or September 1. By that time, I will have two years of solid med/surg (ortho/uro) experience. When should I start applying for positions? In addition, how would you suggest I apply? I have very little faith in the online process, but, in some cases, that's the only option one has. I'm getting the impression that I'll be more likely to get an interview than a new graduate. Thoughts from some currently employed NYC registered nurses?
No one has any thoughts?

I'm a new grad, so my situation is different from yours, but I started calling hospitals and sending my resume out around April, and I started my job in September. That was the general time frame that the hospitals suggested when I asked around in January. If you have experience, I'm guessing you could wait till much later, like maybe June or July, because you don't have to wait to graduate and take the boards. Still, it's never too early to start sending out resumes and making contact with hospitals you're interested in. Hope that helps?
