What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

I still cannot remember my friends name "Axiguery". :uhoh21:

Spaghetti anyone? :chuckle

Does that rhyme with 'surgery'?

I first heard it in nursing school 10 years ago, along with Shithead.

Watch out for 'snopes'. :chuckle It's highly addictive!

Ok, I didn't read the previous thread, so I hope I'm not repeating any. (Sorry, not a nurse yet - but know a couple people with these names): Girl in Highschool: Free Mercy (yes, that's the full name), then there's Snow White and Candy Cane. Hmm - poor girls - and can you imagine having to smile after someone makes the same stupid remark that they think is sooooo original when you tell them your name for the nine-thousand-nine-hundred & 99th time!

I knew a set of twins in highschool named Ginger and Cinnamon. Bright redheads too - most popular. And that was 13 years ago. Perhaps it is the age of spices :-)

I helped care for preemie twins the other night; Ginger and Cinnamon (we thought the same thing a previous poster did about how soon can they start their Mediao career). Not that those names are all that odd really, just odd together.

Some hispanic names seem odd to some of us though they are very average within their culture. We've had an Alfredo (as in sauce) and a Margarita. Difference being that as I said these are absolutely normal average names in hispanic cultures.

Some that stick out in my mind are girs named Honey and Foxy, not from the same family.

But the winner is a baby boy named Cooter, Cooter Jr. to be exact. Yes he was named after his father. People this is not a name that sould be passed on in the family!

I actually LOVE the name Cinnamon---wish I had thought to name one of my daughters that! Cinnamon was kind of a popular name in the early '70s, especially among Neil Young fans (like me!) who loved his song "Cinnamon Girl."

Sage was a popular name, then, too, for boys AND girls. Sylvester Stallone's first son is named "Sage Moonblood Stallone." Laurel was a popular gir's name then, too.

Had a set of twins named Rosemary and Lavender. Okay wouldn't be so bad if they were not together I don't think. Had a dad come right out and tell me in the nursery that they named their baby Summer Night because that is when she was conceived (not the brightest bulb in the bunch). Oh talk about stripper names I had this poor girl once single young girl who said that she didn't want anyone to be able to make fun of her daughter or how her name was spelled and she named her Sin Dee. (Cindy).

Jet Star-Fire that one was pretty bad we talked about that for a long time. and a drumroll please............

The worst name I have heard is

Rooster!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, I am not kidding. We were in the OR and the mom delivered and they said what is his name and she said Rooster and we all laughed thinking it was what they nicknamed him and that they hadn't decided on a name yet but then the OR suddenly got very quiet when we found out that they were totally serious.

Heather

:chuckle rooster

How about names that when put with second names are awful. My mam when she worked in a maternity unit had an Annette Curtain.

Any other good ones out there.

There's a kid who graduated high school here named Richard Sniff (first & last names), but he went by the nickname "Dick" - you can put 2 & 2 together there. :D

Nadja, unless you have proof in hand, pull up a plate! :chuckle

LOL!!!!! I kid you not! Instead of being pronounced "lemon jello", it was pronounced "Le' MON ja lo". Seriously, if my parents did that to me.....

If anyone post about Lemonjello and Orangejello again, I will make you eat your keyboard!

Or at least, some Jello! :chuckle
