I was looking at several sites on nursing and I know that you can get an ADN or BSN, but what about a school that offers a certificate for a vocational nurse and then you can apply for a license? thanks

A vocational nurse is an LVN or LPN, depending on the state in which you live. They do not have the same amount of education, privileges, responsibilities or pay as a Registered Nurse. They provide an excellent service, but you need to check with hospitals and nursing homes to see if vocational nurses are being hired in your area. There is a thread somewhere in allnurses! about difficulty finding work. RN's are in hot demand right now.

LPN/LVN programs takes about a year to complete full time. Once you have passed, then you write to the Board of Nursing in your state and request to sit for the PNCLEX. Everything else in the previous reply is about right. Good luck!!
