What To Do...lpn Or Rn

Published

I am currently taking my pre-reqs at ivy tech in gary. I want to become an RN. The problem is that they only accept 25 students in to the program so there is a wait. I was considering Trying to get into the LPN in august "09" and then when i am done with that then bridge over. If I take all my classes andtry and get in the RN program that wont be till jan "10" when i would be able to get in, if i was accepted. I want to see what other options i have. If anyone has any advice i would reall appreciate it.

Thanks!

i just want to get done!

Are you only looking for Ivy Tech because of the cost? Have you tried the other nursing programs in the area? IU Northwest, Purdue Calumet?

Ivy Tech doesn't have wait lists. They accept students to RN and LPN in fall and spring semesters. They award you points for your pre-req's and TEAS score and admit the top scores each semester. You still have time to apply for fall '09 RN program (the deadline is usually April 1 I think). I am currently in the Gary RN program, and both LPN and RN programs are great! The pre-reqs are the same for RN and LPN so don't be discouraged. You should make an appointment to speak with an advisor, attend a nursing info session, and go from there. Good Luck!
