So I'm halfway done with my ADN program, so I'm putting together a plan (I'm a planner, can you tell?) for NCLEX study since it's now about a year away. Here's my plan and I'd love some feedback on what you think I should change or if you think this will be helpful to me:
Between now and September (I'm off school for the summer):
1. Read "Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment"
2. Finish reading "Manual of Critical Care Nursing" which I started and which I've found to be really helpful for understanding basic things like fluid and electrolytes and acid/base and cardiac monitoring etc.
3. Go through and study the NCLEX study guide which some former student posted on here somewhere (I printed it off so I don't remember where it came from exactly but it's about 34 pages and really helpful)
Then during the school year next year I plan to:
1. Do 10 question from Saunders Q&A review for the NCLEX each day for a total of close to 2000 questions before I graduate.
Then once I graduate, my six week plan before the NCLEX is:
1. Do 100 questions from Saunders each day plus read the rationales for the answers and study the topics I miss from my med-surg/other textbooks
2. Find a practice NCLEX test or two (I still haven't worked out where I'm going to do this...does Saunders have practice tests? I don't want to pay for Kaplan...)
3. Review 34 page study guide and lab values.
What do you guys think? Will this leave me prepared for the NCLEX? What should I add? I don't want to do too many different things so hopefully this should be sufficient.
