In current health care environment requires nurses with the skills to find and apply the best evidence practice for effective health care. A question comes into my mind recently and would like to hear all of your opinions on this area.
Evidence-based practices encourages critical thinking in nursing
What do you think?
Hope to get as more views as possible because I am currently doing a presentation on this topic.

Well my tack is, if you use evidence-based practices, versus "that's the way we have always done it" nursing, you are forcing yourself to learn and use new practices. You are forced to learn new ways of doing things, which in the process, makes you to consider WHY the changes in practice are necessary and beneficial. Consider the "whys" and "hows" of what we do in nursing is the very hallmark of critical thinking. And, also, to me, it's a matter of self-discipline.
Make sense?
