What does it take to work in the Maternity Unit?

Nurses General Nursing

So I just decided that I want to work in the Maternity Unit at the hospital in my town. I'm going to take my GED test next month. What else does it take to be and RN on the Maternity floor? I want to be one of the Nurses in the room that helps deliver the baby. And/or working in the Nursery?

Specializes in OB-Gyn/Primary Care/Ambulatory Leadership.

You have to graduate from nursing school and pass your NCLEX. Beyond that, just luck in finding a position. There is no special additional training involved to be an OB nurse (other than the on-the-job training involved in any specialty area).

Thank you soooo much!!!
