What does it take to get accepted into an accelerated BSN Program?

Published

Hi,

I am getting nervous b/c I am close to finishing my pre-req's. I have three more classes to take: micro, stat's, and my last anat class. I have been getting A, and A- grades and one B. I have a BS in Exercise Science with a 3.3 overall GPA. Does anyone know if my chances look good? If anyone has some comments, words of encouragement, anything about the BSN accelerated programs it would be greatly appreciated! I am getting really nervous!

Thanks!!!

I didn't go through an accelerated BSN program, but I just wanted to wish you good luck. If you're interested in knowing more about the requirements of a particular program, you might try posting in that state's nursing forum.

Good luck to you soccer as well! I'm in the same boat, and as far as I can tell, each state and each school is different. What works someplace won't work at another, etc...

Looks like you are doing well in your pre-reqs. Keep doing well, and be sure to spend a lot of time and effort on any essays you have to write. After that, it will be up to the admissions gods!

Soccer, I'll be attending an accelerated 2nd degree nursing program at a school in Maryland this fall. I applied (early) last October, did my interview in November, and got accepted in December. I made A's in Chemistry and both my Anatomy classes and a C in Microbiology. Overall I had a 3.3 GPA. There were students with 3.0 GPA's who got accepted into the program.

I think what helped me get into the program were great recommendations, a strong essay, a good interview, and hospital volunteer work.

Here's some links that lists 2nd degree schools:

If I can do it, I know you can too.

Best of luck to you!

Here's the page from the school I'm applying to once I finish my prereq's. I know it says accellerated MSN but the first component is the accellerated BSN which is 14 months, then you can work on your MSN as fast or slow (or not at all!) as you want.
