have you thought about applying to ADN program first in city colleges? because it would put less financial burden on you, and some of the schools are lottery based so as long as you have 2.5 and above GPA, you would be qualified to apply.

Not very familiar with the BSN programs, but if you are applying to schools looking strictly at GPA, you would definitely have to retake some classes over to boost up your GPA. Do you 3.0 and above on your science courses?

Every school is a bit different, some look at overall GPA and some don't.

You are still able to get your BSN if you go with ADN route, it's a 2 year program, and 1 year BSN program afterward. Saves time and money if you ask me. hope this helps! good luck!

Thanks for the response! I just posted something similar to this a second ago. As for city colleges, I am currently turning my application into both SacCity and American River college. They are lottery and my chances are very slim on getting in. Currently on the waitlist at Solano but am #531 and have no intention of waiting 2-3 years to get into a program.

As for my science courses I am pretty sure I have above a 3.0..

Basically I am being impatient because my parents are getting old and have many some health issues. So the sooner I start my career the sooner I can help them. If it comes down to me moving to Florida if I get into a school just as remington, I would rather take that and finish the program in 1 year, then possibly waiting up to 3 years to get into a program and another 2 years to finish.

How come you think your chances are very slim in those schools? Don't doubt yourself, because you never know until you tried. Lottery based schools do not have waiting list, so it's pure luck. If you want to go BSN route, that's fine too. But you need to have other options, just in case you do not get accepted to those schools. You can go to Board of Registered Nursing - NCLEX Pass Rates and look at those schools that offer BSN program, if you do not meet the criteria then you would have to retake those classes to boost up your grades, and you could simply do that by taking it over at city college. If you met the requirements to apply, just apply everywhere and pray one of them will accept you. I have heard people getting into BSN or ADN program with low GPA, so your are fine. There's also private schools too that you can look into. Since you have a Bachelor degree already, you could probably apply to the bridge program if you have met the requirements, but like I said, if you do not meet the requirements, you have to boost up your GPA and or choose other routes. Regardless,it is very competitive in California, so don't give up, just apply everywhere. Talk to counselors and see what you can do to change your situation. ^^

Yeah I am trying to stay positive and keep my head up. I have just been working my behind of these past two years trying to keep my grades up and working full time and I feel like I have not really moved anywhere since my GPA is still so low. I plan on doing what you said and applying EVERYWHERE I can and hopefully getting in somewhere. AT the same time I will most likely quit my job and go back to school full time this coming spring semester at city college just in case I do not get in anywhere this coming application period

I got accepted on first try to Cerritos College (lottery based,no wait list) you can try this school. The program has high passing rate and the teachers are so nice. I am starting next Spring, but taking class now to prepare. God has a plan for everyone hahaha....dont worry, I am sure you will be accepted in no time.

Are you planning on applying for next Fall ? if so, now is the time to prepare yourself, take classes over to boost your GPA, most of the city colleges accept applications around March. Not sure about BSN though, but anyways, good luck Josh!
