What would you do?

My school does not have a waiting list but they accept the best 20 students per semester. That being said. Math is not my best subject and I ended that class with a C (UGH). Would you retake it now (since my school allows us to do that) or would you wait and apply and if you dont get it in then retake it. I am confused and dont know what I should do so any help would be appreciated. P.S. I have A's in all of my other classes and one B. My GPA from the C is now 3.34. And I have 4 pre-reqs left before I apply... Thanks!

I would apply and retake only if needed. No sense in wasting time and money if you don't have to. Your GPA is higher than needed at my school. I think you may be fine.

I would suggest you get an appointment with a nursing advisor. Only they can tell you what your chances are of getting in the program at your school with your math grade. You don't want to waste time and money on a class you don't need to re-take, but you also don't want to waste time trying to get into the program if your math grade is going to get in the way. Ask a nursing advisor and they should point you in the right direction.

:banghead: Why didn't I think of that part! Duh. Thanks for finishing my thought. You must have ESP. :)

Travis the above is great advice, but I would also like to add something.

You stated that math is a weak point for you. You do need math for drug calcs in school. I know that when your on the floor that a majority of drugs are precalced by the pharm and we have PDAs and computers, but there could be that one time where knowing how to do it with the computer between your ears will save you and maybe your patient. I think it would be better to retake before you get into nursing school, for nothing else then the personal knowledge of having mastered something that you are finding difficult and may need later in your schooling. This is just my 2 cents on tackling a single beast now then going back later and going man I need to take a math class while learning drug calcs. I hope this helps and everything works out for you.

I completely understand what you are saying. It is mostly the graphing and slopes that give me the hardest time. Thanks for all your help...

oh well then disregard what I said. I was mainly referring to being strong in the algebra. I still have trouble with slopes and graphs. I would do exactly what was suggested earlier, check and see before spending money.

Go ahead and apply to the program. You passed the class! You should be proud of that. Then you can decide to retake the class or just get some extra tutoring when you are doing the med-dosage calculations.
