What would you do????

I am baffled at the moment . I have been a nurse for 6 years five of the six I have spent in Oncology because I love this field. I worked in the hospital until a back injury moved to to the clinic setting. I am baffled because I recently found out one my fellow nurses in the cancer center, who was hired about six months after I was, and who has three years of HOME HEALTH experience, NO ONCOLOGY EXPERIENCE, is making almost SIX DOLLARS more an hour than me.

So now what should my next step be. I am actually not supposed to know about this persons salary. Since it is time now for my yearly evaluation should I tell my boss what I know, or be quiet and except it as part of the politics of the job?

I have thought about leaving and trying to get another job. My problem is I want to work full time in oncology and there are not many oncology jobs around here. So what do you think what would you do???????

Thank you for all of your replys. I have decieded to l:eek: k for another job quietly. I think I had that in my mind all along. I just do not want to leave the oncology field.

I heard the news from another nurse in our facility who shares an office with this person and supposedly got the information straight from her. This was colaberated with one of the other nurses who shares their office. Evidently they were all having a discussion about salaries. By the way it may help to know that this is the nurse of our medical director, who works only for our medical director while the rest of us work for 3 or more doctors. I know she has been an RN for 3 years , but I do not know if she has been in the field as a LPN. I plan to ask her directly before I talk with our boss.

I do plan to ask for a sizeable raise because of the work load I have. I have been working for 3 very busy doctors in this clinic. All of whom tell me I am their right hand, and burry me with more and more work. I have a meeting with 2 of the doctors, my boss, and our medical director on July 8. The second meeting on the issue of my job responsibilties which was initially called by one of the docs I work for when I told him I was drowning and looking for another job.( I have responsibilities that no other nurse in clinic does ie.... I am in charge of scheduling all of their surgeries... No other nurse schedules surgeries) By the way it has been a month since our first meeting and we are supposed to meet to see how things have changed. NOTHING HAS CHANGED excep the fact that I found out how much some of the other nurses make.I had planned on talking directly to the doctors who say I am their right hand to let them know how unhappy I am although I think they already know.
