What states allow you to challenge the NCLEX-PN?

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students Nursing Q/A

I am a student nurse & I've passed everything but my last class of the RN program (critical care). Because I failed this class by 2.5 points on my exam, I am unable to graduate & am being asked to take the LPN course & then re-enroll into the RN program after working as a full time LPN for 6 months. I feel that's far too long after I've already spent this long to get my RN! I would like to get my LPN ASAP. I can't find any solid information about it anywhere but I've heard that medics in the military & other RN students have challenged the NCLEX-PN to get their license. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you for your time!

Can I dm you? Or Dm instead

Most schools give 2 HESI exit try, your school is been so unfair to the student, mine has 2 try and if failed the second time you can retake the last course but by doing that you will get only one try for the exit exam then you out of the program.

It's very unfair. They also denied my appeal to retake the class and withdrew me from the program. They stated that the criteria were based on GPA and other requirements and I did not qualify to retake the class. Plus, the program is on hold because they are on probation with the BON.

With not mentioning, they did not tell the students what kind of EXIT exam was going to be. HESI, ATI or Kaplan. They gave us the Kaplan exit exam which was very difficult.

Wow, am sorry to hear that. I sent you a dm and please lemme know how it goes and never give please.

Hi! Did you attend ICHS? I go there as well! Failed HESI twice.

I tried to see if I could send you a message but I don't see that option on here.

No I live in Alabama went to herzing. the school signed off on my papers yesterday so I just have to mail in the app and do my fingerprints.. looks like FL is the easiest state to challenge the only other state ik is California but it's not a compact state though

Hi Julie, sorry to hear that, are you LVN or CNA? If not LVN you can try and talk the school and see if you can challenge LNV NCLEX

I also failed nursing during my last semester which has been devastating. Nevertheless, I was lucky to find and successfully challenged the LPN exam through the Florida Board of Nursing. It was actually fast. I sent the application less than a month or so and have already been approved to sit for the NCLEX PN.  I think it was approved fast mainly because I was not eligible to apply for a compact license. However, it is possible to apply for endorsement at your current state after obtaining it, which is what I will do in order to practice in my state. I have already scheduled the exam and just started studying for it. I definitely recommend going with Florida.

Don't hesitate to message me or anybody that needs extra guidance.

Good luck!! :))

Hi Karla! I need your help, can you please tell me how can I process to challenge LPN in florida.

Hi Karla,

My school won't complete the LPN paperwork, is there any other way to challenge?

Hi Julie123, I'm sorry to hear that your school won't complete the paperwork. I'm not sure if there is other ways to be able to challenge it, as the paperwork is priority to allow you to take the exam. Try to have your school send the Florida boards just your school transcript. I can't think of any other way to do this. ?

Hi.
They completed it, I just received the email.
Cwe send it in ourselves?  It does state it has to be done by them.

Hi Julie, did you ask the school first that you want to take PNEQ, who do you contact in the school ? Dean? Did you show any papers/ documents  to the school? Or started the Florida PNEQ application first

My school is not very supportive, my campus was far from main campus.

Hi there,

As long as you have completed med surge 1, fundamentals, pharm, and mental health, and you have passed with at least a C+, you are qualified to apply for the PNEQ.  I was in a RN program though, but I think that as long as you have a certain number of credits and have completed those classes, you're good to go.

Also, once you obtain your LPN license, it will only be to work in Florida - single- state license. You may apply for a compact license; however, you must reside in the state of Florida to be eligible.

I wish you good luck and please research your home state educational laws, because some states like NY won't allow endorsement.

hi karla! I have a few questions for you in regards to this topic. can you please email me at [email protected]

Hello, im currently in ICHS, can I know how you did it, I failed the capstone once due to not getting 75 percent to be allowed to take the exit, I am currently retaking it for the third. time. the second time I was doing so well and was well prepared but got a zero on the first exam due to issues with Evolve so that automatically put my grade lowering then 75 but I was blamed for it. they allowed me to withdraw and take it again but now they have changed so many things and made the weekly tests a lot harder which has been lowering my grade little by little, I had also been doing clinical for 2 months straight along with the class so not much time to study so I'm just looking for a plan B since I also don't have an LVN license, I want to start working to pay off the school. I can later figure out how to continue to get an RN license.

How did you do it and what did you tell the school?

Hi. Sorry I'm just seeing you message.
I challenged the LPN board and just passed thank god!  I spoke with professor ----------- and she sent my email to the right people to get my forms I need to challenge and they sent them in to the boards.  -------- is really helpful.  My plan is to challenge RN boards with the 30 unit option once I get my license endorsed if they allow.  I'm waiting on endorsement now but will take 3-4 weeks per California board.
